What you should know about Kratom and Phenibut
Kratom and Phenibut have become one of the most popular combinations in the Kratom community. These two are powerful and popular on their own, but when they’re brought together, they give a sort of high that’s barely supposed to pass as legal, yet it is. Users will also experience several other key benefits, including extreme motivation and deep sleep.
From different Kratom user’s platforms, you’ll get the feeling that Kratom and Phenibut is a match made in heaven but is it really? Do these two compounds slap as hard as most people paint them out to be, or is it all overhyped? If you’re anything like me, you must also be wondering just how safe these two are to the bodies.
What is Phenibut?
Phenibut is a derivative of a chemical commonly found in the human brain known as gamma-aminobutyric acid or GABA. In simpler terms, you can think of Phenibut as the chemical that tries to resemble the effects of GABA. The chemical was first discovered back in the 1960s by Soviet Union scientists. Since its discovery, Phenibut has mainly been used as an anxiolytic drug (a medication for treating anxiety disorders). Other than that, Phenibut has also proven to be very effective in treating mental and emotional issues, improving sleeping patterns, fighting stress, and even to combat fear. Some evidence also shows that Phenibut can be used to enhance the effects of neuroleptics and narcotics. On its own, it can increase the levels of dopamine. This is how its users feel euphoric.
Unfortunately, Phenibut is a grossly understudied compound. We could barely come across any reliable clinical data regarding the chemical, and this is very concerning. Come to think of it, almost all the positive things associated with this compound are based on the fact that it resembles the effects of GABA. Therefore, it is really difficult to understand how exactly Phenibut works to deliver the effects it’s associated with. What Phenibut has going for it is anecdotal evidence. So many people are using this compound for various purposes, and almost all of them are reporting positive outcomes.
As a GABA derivative, it’s understandable if you have any concerns regarding Phenibut’s Blood-Brain barrier penetration. It’s in the public domain that GABA supplements cannot penetrate this barrier and hence most of these compounds usually end up unutilized. The good news here is that the Phenibut structure has a phenyl or 6-Carbon ring, which effectively allows it to go beyond the barrier and act on the GABA receptors to yield the desired effects. These include but are not limited to:
- Muscle relaxation
- Mood boost
- Sleep induction
What is Kratom?
Kratom is nothing new to most of us. This evergreen tree has been around for hundreds of years where it has been utilized to deliver a myriad of health and recreational benefits. Everyone who knows Kratom knows that there are different strains to choose from. All the potent Kratom strains originate from Southeast Asia, but they all have unique effects depending on where exactly they are grown and the type of Kratom trees they were extracted from.
Kratom functions like an opioid agonist. You’d also be right to think of it as some of the other opioids such as methadone since its effects in the brain and human body, in general, are almost similar. The whole secret behind Kratom is the alkaloids that are contained in the leaves. Kratom trees are rich in different kinds of alkaloids that are beneficial in so many ways, and that’s why the plant has been in the medicinal arena for centuries. Among the most common alkaloids are Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine which function like morphine. Some people are even claiming that 7-hydroxymitragynine could be more powerful than morphine, but that remains to be confirmed. The collection of alkaloids enables Kratom to produce the following effects:
- Mood elevation
- Mental and physical stimulation
- Treatment of opiate withdrawal
The above are just but some of the effects witnessed by Kratom users. Bear in mind that the effects will vary depending on the specific strain involved and the doses in which it is consumed.
What Effects should you expect combining Kratom and Phenibut?
When these two are taken together, users can expect anything from improved productivity and mood elation to insane sedation. The exact effect one will experience comes down to how much of each of them has been consumed.
At low doses, combining Phenibut and Kratom will result in mild euphoria and some analgesia. This is a good starting point for all beginners. Bear in mind that by low doses we are referring to around 500mg or less of Phenibut and between 1 to 2 grams of Kratom. These doses are usually tolerated well by most users. Side effects are almost non-existent at this point.
At moderate doses of around 500 – 1500mg for Phenibut and 2 – 5 grams Kratom, the Phenibut-Kratom combination is usually very beneficial. That’s because the Kratom delivers mild stimulation to keep you awake, aware, and highly focused for all the tasks before you while Phenibut will have a calming effect to keep you free from anxiety and stress. As a result, the user will have a very productive day, and the best part is that the risk for adverse reactions is also relatively low at this point.
When you take more than 2000mg of Phenibut and over 8 grams of Kratom, things take a completely different path. At such high doses, the user will experience extreme sedation putting you into a deep sleep that can be mistaken for coma. Unfortunately, total sedation is not the only thing that you need to worry about here. Nausea and vomiting are all bound to happen. You also risk building tolerance, which means that after some time, you will never be in a position to feel euphoric or some of the other effects when using the two compounds.
We’d also like to point out that some of these effects may change slightly depending on the Kratom strain you’ll decide to go with. For instance, combining Phenibut with the Red Kratom strains, at moderate doses can be used to treat anxiety and PTSD issues.
Side Effects of Combining Kratom and Phenibut
Both Kratom and Phenibut have their own unique side effects. What’s positive about both of them is that if they’re taken responsibly, the user shouldn’t have to deal with any complications. However, going beyond the recommended dose opens the door for a myriad of adverse reactions. These include:
- Visual hallucinations
- Appetite suppression
- Weight loss
- Muscle pain
As you can see, the list is extensive and some effects are not even captured here. Also, there isn’t much clinical information on the long term effects of combining Kratom with Phenibut.
Caution is given to everyone who is contemplating going down this road. Kratom and Phenibut can give a very intense high, almost comparable to some of the illegal hard drugs out there. Using these two drugs can also cause serious effects such as addiction, withdrawal, among many others. Therefore, if you really have to try this combination out, we’d seriously urge you to be very keen on how much you are consuming especially the amount of Phenibut. We’d also advise you to stop taking the combination immediately you start feeling the adverse reaction getting intense.
